Apply for job that isnt really a jobThis is sort of an "apply for a job" question, but is more of a curiosity at this point. We have even called the company which goes directly to a voicemail and haven't had any messages returned. One of my file clerks decided she wanted to do something not associated with a legal office. Okay, whatever, it is her choice and if she wants to pursue other avenues, go for it. She asked me if I would provide her with a reference, which I will gladly because she is very detail oriented and has never made an error that is so catastrophic in nature that it couldn't be fixed by one shuffle of a paper. Actually, she made one mistake in a year and a half by putting a birth certificate in the Miscellaneous section of a file instead of the Personal identification section. (Big whoop) (If there were other errors, she corrected them before they were noticed by anyone so they aren't realy mistakes anymore) Anyway, she went on a jobsite that isn't Monster and applied for a position as an Administrative Assistant. (I had to chuckle because this position's description is very much above her qualifications). But, again, whatever, go for it and get your name out there. The real problem is, when she hits the "apply now" button there is a message stating that the company's website has not filed the proper security certificates and the user is likely to be in danger if she proceeds to the site. I told her that this could be a phishing scam and was reported so now is blocked, but I really don't know. Are there any computer experts out there who knows if this could be because the company is using a particular program that isn't compatible with our computers or could I be correct. I hope I am not because the company claims that they are working directly with the missile training and testing range connected with the airforce base in our city. Or could that be the reason and because they are military based, maybe we don't (my company) have the proper authority to access their website. If this is the case, then why post jobs on a public access jobsite?
I'm surprised you're not insisting she use her own computer to apply for the job, not one that belongs to your company. Might solve her problem. I had to laugh at your preoccupation with this woman's "mistakes." Geez, everybody makes mistakes. But file clerks don't make "catastrophic" ones. It's not possible at their pay grade.
Huh, I am surprised that you have focused on my desire to not only allow my employees to succeed but assist in their efforts and not understand that desire that you missed the point of my post. And, to satisfy your curiosity. File Clerks can make errors that are SO catastrophic in nature that the win or lose of the case is at stake. For example:
Granted, the firm I work in pays more than the average company but our cases deal with life and death situations and large sums of money. Now, if you know the answer to my original question, feel free to post. Otherwise, don't.
I didn't miss the point at all;) | |
