Can you bug them too much

When you really want a job, how much is too much follow-up?  I'm still waiting to hear if I did actually get this job, but they said they wouldn't know until next week.  I interviewed on October 5 and had a second interview on October 12.  The H/R Director called me on Monday after the second interview and said they were down to two candidates and would be checking my references.  We corresponded via e-mail that entire week because she needed more information on one of my references, told me she talked to two of them, but wanted the contacts at my previous positions as well.  I gave her everything that I had.  Told her that she will probably have to talk to H/R at my previous jobs because the supervisors are no longer there.

Still haven't heard anything!  I wrote her an e-mail yesterday asking if she would like my letters of recommendation.  She read the e-mail, but didn't respond back.

OK, so do I just sit and wait now?  My last day of work is next Friday and I need to get something lined up.  I want to see if I get this job first because I don't want to contact the temp agencies if I do indeed get this.

I was thinking of not contacting her at all until Thursday to see if a decision had been made.

Do not be a pest.  If they won't know until next week, you shouldn't contact them again until the week AFTER that, unless they contact you first.

Tess

I certainly understand and do believe that's why I have been denied jobs in the past, for being too "desperate."  This place takes a LONG time to hire people.  Their ad first appeared on August 18 and I applied.  After not hearing anything for a month, I e-mailed the H/R Director and asked if the position had been filled.  She said they hadn't even started to interview yet!

Then, she contacted me by phone two weeks later and we did a short phone interview.  I think setup a meeting with the CEO for an in person interview the following week.

The H/R Assistant told me point blank, "They take forever to hire someone here.  I know how stressful it is waiting to hear what is going on, but you have to be patient."

Tess always gives excellent advice and I cannot add anything better!

Like Tess says, you start being a pest and guess what? You are not chosen. But I do like people who shows ambition and follow up. But just don't be a pest about it.

Thanks.  The decision is supposed to be made this week.  I know, it's only Tuesday!  But, I am stopping myself from calling them.  I am going to wait until Friday and see if a decision has been made.
