Signing up with agencyHi all, this is my first post. I've been reading these boards for a couple of months though. I need opinions on the following: I signed up with one of the big recruiting agencies in my area a couple of weeks ago. I went in, filled out the customary mountain of paperwork, did the software and business tests then met with the recruiter. She interviewed me then asked me to submit a urine sample for drug testing. I thought she meant to go to a local lab; nope, she asked me to go into the restroom, obtain a sample, and bring it back and give it to her. Well, then I assumed she would send it out for testing; wrong again! She proceeded to uncap it, set it on the table between us, and she put some multipronged stick thing into it! She waited about two minutes, chatting while she did so, removed the stick thing and threw the sample in the trash! She did not wash her hands! At this point I'm so appalled I can barely speak! My present company does random drug tests, AT A LAB, and chain of custody and sign offs have to be done. Is this agency's 'testing' the norm? Is it even acceptable to the companies she would submit me to? Isn't this a health concern? I've decided that I don't want to be represented by this third world, low class agency anyway but....has anyone ever heard of anything like this? It is definately a violation of the health codes to have a third party bring his bodily fluids into a populated area. It is against other health codes for said bodily fluids to be uncapped. Even more violations occured when the unsealed jar of fluid was put into a non-biohazard waste container. Not only is her no washing her hands a health and safety violation, it is disgusting. By the way, what did she do with the chemical stick used to test the fluids? If she did anything other than place it in a tightly sealed plastic tube ro bag, then she has violated yet more health and safety codes. I highly doubt that any reputable company would agree or allow any results that were produced from that scenario.
Thanks for the insight, Kelly. She actually threw the stick into the wastebasket also. I agree that this is probably a violation of a LOT of health codes. i've decided to make a complaint against them with the county as this is exposing a lot of people to disease. This is a national agency but all I saw come in or go out were Hispanic individuals who were all speaking Spanish. The entire staff are Hispanic also (I live in Houston). I'm thinking this is not any sort of agency one would want to associate with and I'm contacting their national offices also. I guess if you search for a job hard enough you're going to run into a LOT of things that just don't make sense. | |
