Question about job inquiryI recently finished my BS in Accounting. My next steps are preparing and sitting for the CPA exam. I want to send my resume to some CPA firms to inquire about opportunities they have available. My question is what do I use as my objective on my resume. This is what I currently use for other positions that I have applied to: Objective: Seeking a challenging position as a Staff Accountant, utilizing my ten years work experience in the accounting field, my education in accounting, and accounting computer skills. Obviously I have changed Staff Accountant title to reflect whatever position I am applying for at the time. I am at a loss and was wondering if anyone had some input. Thanks in advance for your help!
try not using an objective at all. your resume will convey the messageyour trying to send. from my understanding, objectives tend to be togeneric. when your trying to stand out, generic is the last thing youwant. good luck with your search, i too am looking at cpa firms. You do need to have a well written objective. You do not have to use the word "seeking". The company already knows that. You could include the company name, the type of degree you posses and take out the second "my". it reads funny. So, instead of: Objective: Seeking a challenging position as a Staff Accountant, utilizing my ten years work experience in the accounting field, my education in accounting, and accounting computer skills.
You can put:
Objective:
A challenging position in the Accounting department of Boondocks are Built, Ltd where my experience in the field of finance, Bacheldors in Accounting and the skills acquired on various accounting software systems can be utilized to their fullest extent and where I can contiue to learn and flourish in thefinancial industry. I agree about omitting the objective. Usually it's non-essential information that just takes up space. If you really want to include one, be sure you focus on what you bring to the company/position, rather than what you want to get from it.
Thanks everyone for the great advice. I will have to do some rewording and/or omitting. Greatly appreciate the replies. | |
