Following up best way to handle

Ten days ago, I was emailed by the President/COO of a company in response to my resume posting on another site.  He said they were seeking someone with my industry-specific background for a Senior Accountant position.  He requested a clean copy of my resume and my salary requirements.  I emailed those back to him the same day.

The following morning (a Friday), he responded asking if I was available to interview later that day or last Monday.  I responded late Friday afternoon (nine days ago) saying that I was available any time on Monday or any other day that was convenient for him.

I didn't hear a word from him last week.  I have an offer from another company but accepting it means I have to relocate.  Not my first choice, but lacking any better prospects locally I'll take it.

How do I follow up with this guy to find out if he's just dragging his feet or if they've lost interest?  I'd hate for them to call me after I've accepted this out-of-state job because I would feel obligated to follow through with the move once I commit.

Any suggestions on how I can tactfully say "If you are interested in talking to me, it needs to be soon or I will no longer be available"?

Try to find a telephone number for him. There is usually a main reception phone number listed in the company's website.

Don't bother to explain anything to the receptionist, just ask for the individual you have been dealing with directly. When you talk to him say something like:

"Hello, my name is jmr30080 and ten days ago you left a message that I contact you for an interview for the Senior Accountant position. I left you a few mesages but haven't heard back and I am inquiring as to the status of the position and the interview date."

If you can't get him the first time, keep calling back. Yoiu may even consider contacting the receptionist again and asking for the person's secretary. She/he may be in a better position to relay a message if her boss is like one of mine. He ignores the flashing green light on his telephone and hopes that I will pick up the calls so that he has a written message. (He likes a paper trail).
