Secret to stable permanent work....

.........what is it?  I have been out of work now for 3 months and have been in a vicious cycle of working a few months and sitting unemployed some more months and can't seem to break out of this cycle!  I am a degreed engineer but have opened my options to include project management and business analyst positions.  I have very good credentials, but can only find short term choppy work that never lasts for more than a few months.  I have been struggling with this for almost four and a half years now.  Besides the federal government, what other strategies are there to break out of this?  I am 40 years old now and need some stability fast!  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Gosh, it is very unsettling to not have a permanentjob and be jumping from contract to contract.  Always rememberrecruitment agencies always earn more money when you are temping forthem than if they were to place you in a permanentposition.   Speak  with your consultant and seek theirhelp to procure yourself a permanent position.

There are several things you can do

  • Research companies on the internet that advertise their vacancies direct on the internet and apply directly
  • Applydirectly to government departments, hospitals, government transportoperators, architect firms, property development operations
  • Register with more recruitments firms and only register your application for permanent employment
  • Apply for jobs at universities as a lecturer for engineering

Good luck
