Relocating and looking for new career
I am relocating to a new state and hope the prospects are better there than here. I have never been able to earn more than 25,000 a year here with 15 years of retail management experience. I am shifting my demographics so they are closer to mine (going from an average age of 23.5 to 37). Will that help my job search? Also, since most of my previous employers have closed, as if often the case with retail, that is a big downfall locally, but would that make a difference in my new state? I have always just showed up in a new town and then looked for work, but since I have had a new addition to my family, I can't do that anymore, but I am concerned about having a hard time finding work. After having my son, I was only able to find a job at Albertsons in their service deli working under a 38 year old alcholic mother and her 22 year old daughter ( my other supervisor). I hate that job but will do anything to pay the bills. I guess my real question is would my skills be better taken and used in another state that doesn't know the history of the companies I have worked for? I just want to get out of teenage-ville and back into retail management, or another career. Any advice? | |
