Break in my career.I m looking out for a job after a year n half, this break was due to relocation of my husband's job. My main concern is how do I fill that up in my resume n what reasons can i give in the interviews. I m in the technology field. Can anyone please provide some tips on how to fill the gap in my resume. Thanks in advance. It is perfectly acceptable, in my eyes, to state to the interviewer and/or in your cover letter that your absence from the work force was due to relocation and acclimating yourself and your family to your new surroundings. I think your biggest concern is that with technology in an ever changing mode especially concerning computer technology, your knowledge of computers from your previous jobs may be lacking to today's market. I have no doubt that what you can bring to the work force would be a benefit to any company, but you may want to consider brushing up on some of the finer points and researching new programs or systems. Even those programs or systems that you were aware would be coming to the forefront but which you didn't use before you left. The gap is simply explained by saying your husband relocated. I agree however that in the IT field, a year and a half gap can be a big issue. You need to say something in your cover letter about how you've stayed current in your field during that time.
Tess Thank you all for the advice.
