No jobs near me lots 50 miles away...

I live in an area where there are very few employment opportunities for people with my skill set (advertising, writing, PR). I have commuted 50+ miles per day for jobs in the past and (although I'd prefer not to) am willing to do so for a good opportunity. I have a feeling I'm not getting interviews because potential employers are seeing an address that's 50+ miles away and don't want to risk the fact that I might get burned out from the commute/find a closer job right after I'm hired. I have friends who live closer to the area I want to work. Would it be alright to use their address on my resume? What about a P.O. Box in the city where I have been finding open positions? Any advice is welcome!
Sugar,

Even with a different PO box or address, they'll still know where your current employer is. Plus, lying isn't the best way to start out with a new company.

Are you willing to relocate closer to where the jobs are? If so then let your potential employers know that in your cover letter! If they know how serious you are about being employed in that particular area they're more apt to take notice of you.

Best of luck!
Well, I currently am working as a part-time freelance writer from home and I can't relocate due to my husband's job (which is why I'm stuck where I am in the first place.)
Well, that definitely IS a difficult situation! Does your husband have the type of job that he could relocate to this new area with ease? I know it's almost a necessity to function on two incomes these days and it might work out better overall for you and your family. Increase incomes with shorter commutes works for everyone!

If that's not an option then I would go back to the option of making sure the potential employer knows this commute will not be an issue for you nor will it affect your work. It's a hard game to play and I can predict you'll be applying for a lot of jobs before you find something, but stay optimistic. Sooner or later you'll find an employer who thinks your a great fit regardless of where you're coming from!
