rjl14485a, 1st off, whether U meant it or not, all caps, all bold, or large bold text constitute SHOUTING! online or in email. It is obvious that U R frustrated not being able to read Monster posts. I do not represent Monster, but I have not heard any complaint like yours while using the boards, and I have not had that problem myself. I have some ideas that U may want to try. I would start by making sure your browser has Monster.com on the Trusted Sites list (IE), or similar list in Netscape, Firefox, Safari, or whatever one you use. Next, I would make sure that your security software, Symantec, eTrust, Norton, McAfee, etc., also has email addresses from Monster on the white list, or approved list. This will make sure that the email is not blocked. Also check your email program and do the same. Sometimes security programs, browsers, and email programs will block some emails from trustable senders even when they appear on the approved list. If all else fails, reboot the computer and try again. I would suggest that if your system is clean, up-to-date, (if Windows,it should be at least WIN2K; if MAC, it should be at least OS9.x,better if 10.x), email program working in all others cases, documentprogram working in all other cases, Internet connection stable &always on. You get the idea .... make sure all is well on yourcomputer. A few things you can look into: What operating system R U using? WIN2K - XP - Vista - Apple? Is your PC/Mac up-to-date with current updates / patches? If U have a WIN PC, is the drive defragmented and your document program working properly? Is your anti-spyware, firewall, anti-virus, popup blocker software up-to-date? U can check by going to the Web site of the software company and find latest version. Further reading on those sites will usually explain any know challenges with different versions of the software and how it was/is being updated. What type of Internet connection do U have? Dial-up? DSL? Cable? Is it dedicated to you, or is it a shared connection on a home network with a router? Can U check the router security software for updates and settings that may have an impact on your email? What email reader R U using? Outlook? Outlook Express? Eudora? Thunderbird? Other? Is it up-to-date? Do U have MS Word, Corel Word Perfect, or Star Office installed? Is it/are they up-to-date? Disclaimer: do not take the following step if you are the least bit uncomfortable or suspect that you may allow an infection of your computer! If you determine that all is well, try (temporarily, and only if you feel your connection is secure) turning off your anti-virus, firewall, popup blocker, anti-spyware, etc. one at a time and attempt to read the email again. If disabling one of them allows U to read the email, then U know that is the one that is the challenge. Do not forget to turn on your security programs once U have tried this! If all of that fails, U may want to try one of the many tech forums online or have your computer checked by a service pro. I hope U do not think I am preaching to the choir - its just that I spent the past two years providing solutions to customers of one of the largest ISPs in the US. HTH! -- Dave | |
