Experience gained as student
Is this generally looked down upon in a resume? I have 3.5 years of development/fundraising experience from my time as a college student (this was in the last 10 years). I was the youngest supervisor ever promoted (at the time), and I raised over $50,000 in pledges. I also stand to get a great reference from my old boss. I am focusing on searching for jobs in development/alumni relations (as well as marketing, but that's for another thread), and there is one posting in particular for which I'm preparing my resume. They are looking for someone with 1-3 years of development experience, but I'm worried that they may underestimate the experience gained as a student employee. I believe I can sell it during an interview, but I'm worried about getting dismissed during the screening process. Please advise. Thanks!!! Going to school full time and doing a great fund raising job at the same time - I would call that an excellent multi tasking skill. Mary | |
