Risk being over or underqualified

Hello!  I am in the process of looking for another job.  I'm castingkind of a wide net:  I'm looking at jobs in the marketing/publicityfield; sales/marketing; fundraising/development; and even research. I've worked for a university for about 4.5 years:  1 position for 3.5,the other for about a year.   (However, my current job is inadvertising/sales).   I enjoy working at a university, so I've beenfocusing my search in that area.  There are two positions that I'minterested in:  one is for a department assistant (kind of upper-level, though), and theother is a kind of project manager/coordinator job in the same department.  So here's my reasoning:  if I took the assistant job, I would at least be working one of my preferred fields, and I could learn a lot.  I'm more than qualified for that position, but as I've often read, being overqualified is a red flag for employers because they worry that you'll become bored or want to move on to another job.  On the other hand, I meet all the minimum qualifications for the manager/coordinator job, but I imagine the expectations will be pretty high.  The bulk of my fundraising experience has been in phone solicitation/telemarketing, and as a supervisor of such.  Part of me worries that I may be setting myself up for failure--the other part of me really wants the challenge.  I'm not given nearly enough opportunities to prove myself in my current job (again, it's in a different field, but still), and I feel about ready to burst.  Any advice?
