Is there anything else I can do
I have been trying to find a good job now since graduating with a degreein business from college. However, I am still at my dead-end low payingjob. Right now I will accept ANY decent job that is either good payingor has a good chance for advancement. I have search for jobs on monster, hotjobs, careerbuilder, college grad, etc... I have got in contact with headhunter to no avail. I have went back to my school to see if they would provide any help. I have applyed for many jobs off a number of different companies that I would like to work for. I have sent out my resume to a number of different companies. Is there anything else I can be doing? Please dont answer my question with another question. Most employers want experience, so one thing I would tell you to do is to make sure that the positions you are applying for do not require more experience than you have. Check your cover letter and resume for any spelling or grammatical errors. Be sure to format your cover letter and resume to reflect the particular job and how you can benefit the company. Paste your CL and resume on the two forums dedicated to these documents for advice on how to improve or format them. Delete any identifying information bfore submitting. Hold a mock interview with a family member or friend and.or videotape this to check for errors or ways for improvement. Check employment opportunities with your State. All States have their own website which has the positions available within the State Government and include links to other websites for your county and city. Check for Federal Employment at USAJOBS. Check Craigslist (but don't hold any high hopes for that lead). Remember to follow-thru. A lot of companies get a lot of resumes and if they have provided a phone number or an email address, don't hesitate to contact them and inquire if they received yours. Wait a suitable time, tho, maybe one week after the last day you saw the advertisement. You may have a dead end-low paying job, but at least you have a job, which is more than a lot of people can say. So keep this job until you have a new one confirmed. | |
