Is it too late to change
Last week i interviewed for a customer service position with a really great company that if they chose me for the position I would love to work for them for a lot of reasons. I graduated in 2005 with a degree in marketing and have been working since then, and on my interview I expressed a great interest in the company as well as marketing and that if chosen for the CS position i would do what it takes to get into marketing with them. They say that if you show you are ahard worker it is easy to move laterally. Ok so that sounds awesome.
This week they posted a position that actually sounds like what I shuld be doing as an entry level position. It is in marketing and they advertise it the same way they did the CS position, if uo work hard you can move laterally.
Since I already interviewed for the CS position, is it a bad move if i emailed the HR contact that i met with and expressed my interest in the markeitng position as well as the CS position? I mean if they DO indeed like me I would take either, although, i think i am more experienced for the marketing position and they do know that this is what i would eventually move into. I mean if they didnt like me for the markerting osition and liked me for CS i would do it and viceversa.

I wouldn't do this by email. CAll the HR contact and ask them about the marketing position. Explain that it is your goal to move to a position exactly like that one and ask if they think you could be a viable candidate or what steps you should take.

Woah man, I was literally just about to take Tess's advice and call the HR contact, but they were actually calling me to offer me a position. How exciting, even though it is is customer service, but i think i can deal with it for a while, i did for a year in my last job so why n ot again! Im excited to tell them "yes, offer is accepted" as this work place seems to be very unique and very very quick to grow. So excited!
