this may not help you at all, other than to give ya a sense of not being the only one in this boat. i am doing exactly the same thing right now.

luckily for me, i have  previously lived and worked in the state i am relocating to. monster, as always is a great resource. also try reaching out to people (if you happen to know any) in that area for ideas. for instance, my brother lives near the area where i am looking to relocate. so he has his "ear to the ground," for me as well.

get information on new construction and/or companies entering the area. areas of growth usually have a good job market, and a general "buzz" within the area or surrounding areas about new and upcoming changes.

also, include in the cover letter for any jobs you apply to online, that you are relocating, as many companies will not consider resumes outside of a given radius of a job location.
