Job Search

I gotta tell you I' ve been in the same position.

When you apply for a job you are competing with many many other people. It is probably the hardest way to get a job. Start networking! I have been calling up people that I know or have recently met and asking them for help- I have gotten several leads. I hear this "There is a job opening up in the next few weeks" or "Sallie is retiring and I know her position will be available". when you know someone at a company and they direct you to someone in the company who does the hiring, they will try to find something for you. When you apply for a job online or classifieds, HR tries to find a reason to not hire you because they get so many applications.

For many of you who haven' t been networking- start. All you have to do is join a group that you love! Start meeting people. Then the question will become, are you comfortable asking for help.

There is a website LinkedIn. This site allows you to network with people that your work(ed) with and old school mates. Great site for networking yourself. It is not what you know but who you know.
