Career Tips

What is next...

I have been looking on the internet and also at placement agencies for a good job that pays decent. I don't have the money to hire someone to help me out with my resume so I have resorted to doing it myself and hoping an employer will take a glance and a chance and want to at the very least, interview me. I have had about 3-4 interviews and I feel like I am stuck.I would like to get my foot in the door with a good company that offers advancement and growth with in. Looking on the internet can only help for so long before you start to give up. I don't know where else to look.  Does anyone have a suggestion?

Foregoing any personal identification, put your resume on the Resume Tips board about three boards down from here. There is a Resume professional plus others who critique and will tell you what it is they, as hiring authorities, look for in a cover letter and in a resume.

Here is what I did. If you live in a major metropolitan area such as Los Angeles, pick the Sunday newspaper. Go to the Careers section (Classified Ads). Using a RED pen, circle all the jobs you are interested in and are qualified for and start applying.

If you want to work in a certain city, go to that city' s main newspaper and check out their classified ads seeking employees.

Hit all of the career days. Career Builders.com and Hire Quest.com all sponsor events at hotels or a convention center nearby where several dozen employers seek new candidates.

ALWAYS look at city or county jobs too. They have excellent benefits and are career oriented too.
