They want to Offer 40k but I need 45KI have just found a Job that is great but they want to offer me 40k but I need 45K. The first interview I had the manager said 40k was the highest that they are allowed to offer. My problem is I want the job really bad but I want to ask them for 45k with out putting me out of the running for the job. Any suggestions would be great. Can you pay your bills and take care of the necessities on 40K? If so, I'd take the job b/c you seem to really like this position. Also, you shouldn't mention your salary expectations until you get a firm offer they might take you out of the running if they believe your requirements are too high.
I took a 5K cut for my present job......it's only 50 bucks ( -approx.) weekly difference.
If you already know the top salary they will offer is $40K you wil P*** them off.... If they are prepared to make you an offer, and you believe you will love this job and working for them, you should already have a clue about how stable the organization is and if it is growing/making a profit. If they are ready to make you an offer, you can ask follow-up questions on how reviews are done, how raises are calculated and what, if any, bonus structure exists. Please also take into account, what if any benefits package, and matching funds for 401K they may offer. If the extra $5K a year is needed to pay for your health care benefits because they offer none, or nothing towards retirement, etc. then it may be a bigger pay cut than you are willing to take. | |
