Career Tips

Your Job Search

You don' t mention if you considered/tried networking with your friends and/or professional colleagues. It is best to have someone who knows you well to recommend you to the person authorized to hire for the position.  Letters of reference/recommendations from individuals who are known in the community in which you seek employment are valuable to establish your credibility with the potential employer.  Other factors are your psychological well-being prior to and during the interview, and whether or not you really have an interest in getting the job.  These factors show in your face when you meet the interviewer - whether or not you are aware of it.  If you are really interested, your enthusiasm will come through clearly.  If you are feeling depressed and rejected, this will come through, too.  I have been searching for a new job/career for 18 months, and find that I do best in interviews when I remember my fate/destiny is in God' s hands.  I am now a finalist in two positions I am very interested in, and believe God will open the door he intends me to enter.  Good luck with your search and may God bless you.
