Searching while working
I've realized that my current job has no room for growth in the direction I want to go in. I have to start looking elsewhere. But how do you look while you are working? Do you just keep saying I have a doctor's appointment, I need to be out for an hour, etc. etc? How do people interview when they are working.? My job is not one where you can sneak away for an hour either.
I basically had to keep being 'sick' and making up doctors appts. Some people seemed to catch on, and would joke about it...but it was very akward and uncomfortable. It was a company that was really going down hill quickly and a lot of people were talking about searching. I kept my mouth shut and just made up excuses and interviewed. However, it got VERY stressful and I think it contributed to me taking something that wasn't as perfect for me as ti should have been because I couldn't keep interviewing over and over...i was having 3-4 interviews a week. It was out of control. I'm job hunting again now and I'm debating just quitting, but I need the money! Find a public library or other places that have computers for public use. A lot of resume posting can be done in minutes on the computer. Do it during lunch hour. Just don't do it at work knowing that your techs can pull your history even when you delete it. And I think taking a day off for a few months every two weeks is not all that unusual. You have your yearly physical and if you are a woman that is another extra appointment and the dentist. | |
