e mail resume problem

I e-mailed my resume to a job with no contact phone number.

How long should I give them before e-mailing them again or should I just let them call me?

I' ve done this at other companies before and have received no response.

I know tmsmalley says e-mail is a throw-away method of communication . Why is this?

I would wait until the company contacts me. When a person follows up before the interview companies think  that that  person is "too aggressive" and/or "desperate" ...some companies wait  months before contacting candidates.

To answer your second question---It all depends on your resume. If it is generic and doesn't set you apart from your competition than an e-mailed resume is a waist of time.

But I read somewhere on a monster message board, that unless your e-mail had the correct code; it could go into a spam folder instead of the inbox of the person you sent it to.

Any comments on this?

how can they ' contact' you if you forgot to include a ' contact' number in the email?

They can email you back. That' s how they can contact you. If the company is impressed enough with your resume then they will do just that. I am sure that a lot of emails do go into the junk mail folder or are filtered out as spam, but if there is a specific email address that was advertised, it will be fine. Most filters are set to recognize certain words and the different ways of spelling them. So, if your subject field states, for example: "Assist Clerk" as opposed to "Assistant Clerk", your email may get filtered out because "Assist" is classified in many email filter systems as undesirable language. Double check the job description and contact information. There may be a keyword that has been suggested for use as the subject or a reference or job number.
