How to disguise current employer
My employer searches Monster.com to see if any of his employees are looking for jobs outside the company. Is there a way to disguise my current employer on my resume so I can post it to Monster without being detected by my boss? I thought of intentionally mispelling the name of the company but that might make me look bad to a prospective employer. Any ideas?
There's a HIDE option you can use to disguise your resume from certain employers; you then select your employer from the list. When you view your resume you should see some sunglasses on it, if I remember correctly.
If you go under My Monster then click on resume and click on the help area........... If you select a resume status of ' public,' you can choose not to showyour contact information, current employer and references, to employerswho find your resume during a resume search. This confidential optioncould be helpful if you are employed and do not want your employer to identify your resume on Monster. Upload Tip:If you upload or copy and paste your resume, you will need to manually remove any information that you want to make confidential. Note: The confidential option only applies to employers who findyour public resume during a resume search. If you apply online, the information you' ve marked as confidential will be visible so that theemployer can contact you. Q: What is Privacy Plus? A: Privacy Plus allows you to block up to 20companies from finding your public resume on Monster. This feature isparticularly helpful if you' re looking for a job and don' t want yourcurrent employer to find your resume. By blocking the company (or companies) of your choice, you can set your resume status to ' public,' allowing other employers to find your resume. For many job seekers, thecombination of Privacy Plus and a public resume is the most effectiveway to privately conduct a job search. Q: How do I use Privacy Plus? A: Once you create and post your public(searchable) resume, click the ' Privacy Plus' link on the main MyMonster menu bar. You can then find and block the company (orcompanies) of your choice from finding your public resume during resume searches. Q: What' s the difference between Privacy Plus and a confidential resume? A: The ' confidentiality' resume setting hidesspecific information on your public resume (but not the resume itself)from all employers performing a resume search. Privacy Plus hides yourresume from selected employers, allowing other Monster employers tofind your resume. Q: What if I can' t find the company I' m looking for? A: If you can' t find a company, check to makesure the company name is spelled correctly. If the spelling is correct,it could be the company is not associated with Monster. Additionally, some employers may post jobs on Monster, but do not have access toMonster' s database of public resumes. Only companies with activeMonster resume search access are available to be blocked by PrivacyPlus. Your Privacy Plus company search results will consist of the top(up to 40) matching company names. If you don' t find the company you' researching for, we recommend that you return to the Privacy Plus searchpage regularly, as new companies are added daily. Q: Will companies be blocked immediately? A: It can take 2-4 hours to block a company fromfinding your public resume. If you are concerned that a blocked companymay find your public resume during that time period, you can set yourresume to ' private' until the 2-4 hour period has lapsed. After 4hours, you can change your resume status back to ' public' so that otheremployers can find your resume. Q: Can I be sure a blocked company won' t see my resume? A: Monster cannot guarantee that a blockedcompany can always be prevented from seeing your public resume. Forexample, a company could receive your resume from a recruiter or other third party. Also, if a company has multiple variations of its name, you may be unable to block all variations due to restrictions in howmany employer listings you block at any one time. Always use the help feature with any problems that could come up. Hope this helps if any additional questions post to the Resume Tips board or other boards that can further assist you. | |
