Nightmare scenario, need help! This is my first time doing this so bear with me. To give a quick background, bachelor degree holder with major in accounting. Spent several years in Florida after obtaining said degree in Texas. After 6 years, decided to move back to San Antonio, partly to be closer to the family. Fast forward two years, I still have not gotten a permanent assignment. When I was in Florida, my two jobs I obtained via employment agencies. Thus when I returned to Texas, I registered with several employment agencies since it worked in Florida. I' ve held various positions in the last two years, but all of them eventually ended for non disciplinary reasons (i.e. merger in three cases or the assignment just ending). So my question is in a general sense... what do I do now? I' ve applied for numerous positions in San Antonio and Austin and Houston with no success. I' ve thought about applying for positions even farther away but not sure how to do that even though I' m willing to relocate given a permanent opportunity. Should I just go through the "Top 100 best companies to work for" list, and send emails to all the companies, seeing if I can get a bite? Or should I send a letter to the government or say Tim Duncan (since i' m in San Antonio and all), asking for a grant to help me get job training or money to help me support myself while I go back to school for my master degree and CPA? Should I just go through the "Top 100 best companies to work for" list, and send emails to all the companies, seeing if I can get a bite? Don' t send emails, hunt up their websites and check their job postings for something you' re qualified for. Check every company, city, county, state government agency and non-profit within a reasonable commute for jobs that you qualify for. Then check that your resume is error free and represents you well and go after those spots. When you get interviews, make a strong case for your skills. | |
