Strange Follow Up
I've been looking into switching companies and so I've slowly beenapplying to jobs in companies that I would really want to workfor. I recently received an e-mail from one of the companies onthe TOP of my list asking me to provide contact information for a phoneinterview and to tell them when the best time for me to talk wouldbe. I responded to the e-mail that night and didn't hear back thenext day. I then e-mailed the company representative back againthe night after, just in case my e-mail didn't get through and didn'treceive an e-mail back on the 3rd day either. In my job seeking experience, I haven't come across someone notresponding after they expressed interest in my resume for aposition. Should I e-mail the person a 3rd time? Should Iwait? Should I have responded back via e-mail immediately when Ireceived the e-mail? Has anyone else come across this? Shouldn't a company at least indicate "oops, I e-mailed you by mistake, not interested"? "In my job seeking experience, I haven' t come across someone not responding after they expressed interest in my resume for a position." You are kidding, aren' t you? If you are serious, let' s just say that you ARE fortunate. I have come across this more times than I care to remember. You sent your email back to them in a timely manner. If they have not responded within a day or so, it could be because they are extremely busy. Chances are, however, they could have already moved on to the next candidate (yes, employers are a fickle breed!!) A lot of companies are like the reps for the temporary/employment agencies. If you don' t answer your phone when they call, or reply to their email immediately, they figure you are not interested, and move on. Nice, huh? As far as admitting they made a mistake, don' t count on any acknowledgment. You can' t even get the companies to let you know you didn' t get the position, even after two or three interviews. So, I would suggest to move on to the next prospect, yourself. If they contact you, fine. If not, so be it. | |
