New Degree

I am a 41 year old female, who just recently completed my Associates Degree in Applied Science for Medical. I worked for 15 years in a factory and they closed the doors and went overseas. This enabled the employees of the factory to go to school for a two-year program of their choice. I decided upon Medical, as the nursing program was filled for the next several semesters and the government would not let us sit and wait for an opening. And once we chose a field of study, we were locked in. So, I guess in essence, my questions is....how the heck do you go about getting hired for a job when you have little experience? Everyone wants experience but yet no one will hire me so that I can gain that experience. I am very eager to learn. I loved my Externship and loved working one on one with patients. I did my Externship in the OB/GYN field, which I believe has hurt me to some extent.

I think another problem that exists is that employers aren' t really sure what a Medical. We are not CNAs or QMAs, we are Medical. We are able to give injections, call in prescriptions, physicians with procedures/exams, remove sutures, dress wounds, perform EKGs, as well as all the administrative duties that go along with a physician' s office.

I am getting very frustrated. I have applied for many jobs ranging from receptionist to medical records clerk, and have not had one single interview. I am lost as to what to do.

Any suggestions??? Would be much appreciated!

One of the great benefits of these sorts of schools is that they all offer placement ####.  Go to them and don' t leave until you get hired somewhere.  They know who hires their graduates, they can help you do your resume and highlight your externship experience, they can do sample interviews with you, etc.
