Help me from losing my mind!Greetings to all! Short story is I passed phone interview, passed 1st face to face interview with HR and a manager in the area I would be working and last Thursday had a face to face meeting with the VP and the Sr. Implementation manager. All looks well, however, they said they would make their choices on Friday. I was hoping to hear something on Friday or today but nothing yet. I have a job currently and the new job starts on the 29th so it is very close to the 2 week notice timeframe for me. When do I call the HR contact to follow up? Before my last interview the HR rep asked me if she gave me a application and her card and she told me about benefits like health club ect. What are your feelings on this opportunity? Does it sound like I will get the offer? The waiting is killing me so some feedback would be great therapy for me. The new job only starts on the 29th if they get you an offer in time to give 2 weeks notice. If they don't, then it starts 2 weeks after that point. Don't short your current boss just because they are in a hurry. It sounds promising, but nothing is true until the fat lady sings. You're just going to have to wait and see how it plays out. It could still go to the boss's no good son in law.
Good luck! Tess The job starts the 29th regardless. I was trying to be nice to my job by giving at least 2 weeks notice. I may not be able to give a full 2 weeks if this drags out. When would you recommend calling to check on the status? Wait until mid afternoon tommorrow. If you still haven't heard anything or received any type of email, then give them a call to ask what is up. Giving two weeks notice is an enormous courtesy to your curent employer, but if it is just not possible, then I am sure that your boss will understand. It is also possible that if you are offered this new job the start date will be changed to allow for the two weeks. Be careful about not giving 2 weeksnotice. I gave my 2 weeks notice and my former boss wastelling perspectives that I didn't and I was passed over on some jobs. Finally, a perspective (who knew the former jerk) was decentenough to tell me there was a problem with my resume and he gave me achance to explain that I did give 2 weeks notice, but the former toldme I didn't have to finish the last week because he said he had no workanyway. The former was mad that I quit. Then the perspective gave me the job.
Good luck. "Finally, a perspective... " I'm sorry--I think you meant "prospective." I had a devil of a time understanding what you were trying to say until I realized you were using "perspective" rather than "prospective." Glad you got the job--too bad former employers can really screw up a person's job hunt by being malicious. | |
