What questions do I ask

What questions should I ask on a formal interview of my potential employer? Do I ask about history, performance issues, etc.?  I need some help! Thanks!

You can always ask what especially attracted them to interview you.
I have never thought to ask that question, but will today. Thanks! smile

Here are some questions to ask at an interview .

  1. Why is this position available ?
  2. How long has this position been open ?
  3. What specific qualifications and qualities are they looking for in a candidate ?
  4. What is an ideal employee like ?
  5. What’s your management style ?
  6. How do you measure success on this job ?
  7.  What are the normal work hours ?   Is there flex time ?
  8. Is there any training provided?
  9. Can you provide any details about the company and working environment ?
  10. When can I expect to hear from you on your decision for the open position ?

Also, here are some behavioral type questions that many interviewers will ask, so that you can prepare yourself.

1. Tell me about yourself?
2. Why do you want to work here?

3. Describe a bad situation and how you dealt withit?
4. Why should we hire you?
5. What are your strengths
6. What are your weaknesses?
7. Where do you see yourself in several years?

Some interviewers are very thorough so asking them questions back will give help.

Good luck on your interview.

Don't ask about flex time on a first interview, unless the interviewer brings it up first.

Also, don't limit yourself to "textbook" questions. Ask only what interests you, look at the interview as a free flowing conversation, and pay attention to what the interviewer is saying so that you don't ask questions that have already been answered.
