How 2 send Thnk U 2 employer w/ Temp Svc
I'm working with a temp agency but I wish to send a thank you note to an interviewer that I interviewed with through this temp agency. Anyone have any ideas, what would be the best way to approach this. Also, I only have one interviewers full name from the panel and all others first name...how should I include everyone without they're full names and no way of finding out the names of the others (agency only had the one name)?
Well, that is tricky because temp agencies and recruitement agencies feel that they and only they should have any contact with the company. I suppose that I will concede the issue that temp agencies, etc are "in sales" and that they don't get paid if they can't "sell you". If you turn around and do a better job at presenting your finer points to a company, you are seen to be a difficult individual to work with and some agencies will not tolerate it. I hate agencies, can you tell? Anyway, back to your question. You know the company's address. If you really want to send a thank you note, then go for it. The extra step you are taking may even put you that much further ahead than your competitors for the job. If you don't want to go snail mail, then use the company's name to find their internet site. They should, and probably do, have a section that not only give your the email address of the HR person you met with, but the full names and email addresses of the other people you met with. If it doesn't, then send the email to the one person whose full name you do know and include everybody else in the body of the message. Ie: TO: joesmith @wahwah.com Dear Mr. Smith: I enjoyed meeting with you and having the opportunity to discuss the position of Chief Cook and Panty Wiper with you, Marge, Velma and Chuck. I feel that your company and I would mutually benefit from my experience and skills and blah blah blah. Marge had indicated that she really wants the successful candidate to be punctual and I pride myself on the fact that I have always arrived to work at least 10 minutes early, have never been late returning from lunch and have maintained an excellant attendance record. Sincerely, Still2Dynamic If you really feel uneasy sending a thank you to the company directly, talk to your recruiter and ask her if she will send it on your behalf.
Thanks Kelly, That's sounds great! I didn't want to go behind the recruiters back, just in case it's an issue for future consideration. I was thinking of sending an attachment to the agency to forward on my behalf. I'd prefer not going through an agency, doesn't pay as good as the company plus benefits, but I don't want to miss this opportunity. I've been trying for years to join this company. Also, I've been actively seeking employment since Oct. '06. and counting...this is the only thing that's looking promising right now. Thanks so much that was a big help. I really appreciate your reply. Since it was the temp service that sent you to that interview, you don't need to send a thank you to the interviewer him or herself. His or her company has a relationship with the agency to prescreen people before sending them on. Now if you want to send a thank you, which is very nice, then you'd do it to your rep at the agency. But I would simply suggest putting in a call to him or her and saying thanks and letting him or her know how the interview went. A letter or card would be too impersonal in this case. And FYI, it's not necessary to send a thank you when dealing with agencies, but it's still a nice thought! Thanks for your reply. I didn't get a chance to send the thank you note but I got the job. The interviewers were impressed and stated to my agency that if all goes as good as they expect they want to hire me permanent. I'm so happy. Thanks again for your replies. | |
