Second Job

I just left my first job after three months as it was a very bad work experience. The employer let an older employee treat me horribly and when I expressed my dislike for that behaviour I was told either suck it up or leave. So I did just that I left. I actually went and handed out my resume right after I left. Then within a few moments I recieved a phone call from one of the several places asking me to come in tomorrow morning.

I'm excited but at the same time really nervous. I nervous about the question "Why did you leave your former employee". I don't want it to make it seem like I'm an not a team player. But a want to be honest...but how honest should I be.

You left because of a hostile work environment. That phrase may put some employers off, but those are the employers who you don't want to work for anyway because they would be just like the one you just left. They would say to just suck it up.

If a person doesn't feel happy, respected or even wanted that can and will affect their performance. Any employer who wants a good work performance from their employee will not tolerate a hostile work environment.

Sorry to hear what you're going through.  I was in a situation as such after 8 mos I'd had enough.

I usually put something like "No opportunities for professional growth"  which is true, how could you grow with a company like that and stay professional.wink

Just out of curiosity I called my old employer to see what kind of reference I'd get... I discovered something very interesting...the phones are disconnected, off, non-working.  So, I did a little more digging and they've moved, couldn't find anything about a new work location, new telephone numbers, ect.

Also, it was such a short period, why use them, did you gain that much experience to make a difference in the future.
