Interview question

For an accountant position, how should I answer this question "What are your assets and liabilities?" in a best way? Could anybody here give me some idea? thanks!

As an Accounting Manager/Bookkeeper myself, that' s really an appropriate question.  I would just answer with a list of my assets: in my case, I' d say I' m a stickler for detail, pride myself on getting thiings done right the first time, really love working with numbers, etc.  As for liabilities, I' d admit that I sometimes put off doing things I don' t like until the end.

They' re just asking what you do best, and what you could stand to improve on.  Good luck!!!

Your assets should all be job related. Attention to detail, hard worker, never quitting, team player.

Your liabilities should be things that can be looked upon by some as assets... too much attention to detail (finding every penny), pushing yourself too hard, etc...

Regarding your suggestion on handling liabilities, hasn' t it become old?  I first heard that suggestion many years ago.  Don' t interviewers see through it nowadays?

Obviously a candidate should not mention a weakness that would keep him/her from succeeding at the job.  In fact, if the candidate has a killer weakness, he/she shouldn' t even be interviewing.

Does "liability" here necessarily equal to "weakness"? Could I say I owe thanks for the help from my current and previous and future employers/managers/co-workers? And say that' s why I always have to pay back with my excellent work, blar blar...
