Quick question.
If you had an interview on say a Thursday and the Company contacts you on Friday and told you the position was on "Hold". Is it safe to assume this opportunity is gone?
Yes. Until told otherwise.
To any people with hiring experience, HR people etc. Do positions go on hold like this? What is the reasoning here, if there is any?
Yes, this happens. It could be that a hiring freeze was announced from above. It could be that a re-org was announced. Could be that the person who would be the boss put in their notice and they're holding off until they replace him. My assistant was fired while I was on maternity leave. We didn't rehire until I returned. Officially, the position was open but on hold. Could be dozens of reasons.
Tess Tess, Thank you, for the response. I have since spoken with some people and they basically echoed what you stated. The HR recruiter at this company was very professional and I don't think she would beat around the bush. I thought a million (negative) things when I saw that a "hold" was placed on the position. I thought she may be just giving me a "good bye, thanks for trying" type deal. But after speaking with some experienced HR people. They stated, if they did not want anything more to do with me they would state that.
Hello All, I don't know why all the HR people keep saying I'll save your resume and get back to you!I just want to get back to work. | |
