Please HELP Interview Dilemma!!

I recently interviewed for a entry level position at a company and took an assessment test. I had the interview first which seems to have went really well. However after the assessment I was told that It would take 2 weeks to determine if I would be called In for a second Interview, and was also told that I would be notified either way by phone. After that I was thanked for the opportunity to have met with me, and my time. I always try to remain positive because I feel that this could could go either way, I guess I am trying to read between the lines but I'm just not getting it (understanding) does this mean that they didn't find me as a good candidate for the position or does this really mean that it will take them 2 weeks to determine if they want to meet with me for a second interview? I would appreciate any help with this one.

I think you're getting alittle over anxious about this, but we all do at one point or another. wink

Most companies need at least a week or two to consolidate all candidate's profiles and assessment tests to make a decision. They would either need time to get the decision-makers together or wait for the rest of the candidates to finish their tests/interviews so they can make an informed choice. It is a very common time period to wait. I was once hired 8 days after I was told they would get back to me within 2 weeks, and I have friends that was got job offers 15 days later.

You have done what you can, all you can do now is to wait. No point getting overly anxious about it. But it might be a good idea to send a thank-you note to your interviewers, just as a form of courtesy if not to remind them of your enthusiasm for the job.

Thank you for your insight .smile And yes I would agree that I am a bit over anxious because I really want this job! However I do understand that there is a process to hiring potential candidates. I have in fact sent out a thank you letter to the interviewer, and now I just have to sit back and wait, and during the waiting process so many things are running through my mind, which adds to my anxiety.....UUUGGGHHH!!! shocked I just want to know!

We all do like to know, wouldn't we? smile

The best thing to do is not to be overly optimistic about it, in case you don't get it. Afterall, there are so many other factors that would affect a decision to hire a candidate.

If you're currently unemployed, keep sending out those resumes and prepare for other interviews. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Good luck.

I interviewed with a company two weeks ago and was just asked yesterday for a second interview. The reson for the wait, I was the first interview, they wanted to talk to all candidates before making a decision for second interviews. They said they planned on narrowing it down to 3-5 people, which isn't a lot, so they wanted to bring in the right people.

This may be the same in your case or they might be exploring other candidates. If they don't bring you back in, don't get broken up on it and keep trying, you'll get something!
