What if your interviewer is an idiot

Whats the best thing to do if you are being interviewed by a moron and you can tell you don't want the job?  It may not be "PC" to excuse yourself from the interview, but why waste hours of your time and theirs?  Isn't it better to spare your interviewer further embarrassment by stopping the interview and tell them you don't think it's a good match so you can get out of there?

winkIgnatz sez:

This has actually happened to me before. Within a few minutes of the interview, I felt like the interviewer was a complete dork and that the whole office atmosphere was, well, icky. Before the bad vibes became too overwhelming, I simply said: "I'm sorry, but I don't think this is a good match. Let's end the interview now." We shook hands, and I was out the door. Enormous feeling of relief. There was nothing to be gained by going through the motions of a sour job interview situation. Better to just cut your losses and leave.

It sounds like you interviewed at the same place as me! lol

As soon as I saw the place I was to be interviewed I felt like bolting...it was so sleazy. Then the woman interviewing me asked me 1)  how old I am!!! and 2) if I had kids. I was furious and wish I just bolted in the first place.  My vote is also just to leave politely.

There's nothing wrong with excusing yourself from an interview, so long as you do it politely.  For example, I had interviewed many years ago for a job.  During the interview, I realized that it wasn't the one for me, and so I politely told the interviewer this.  That way, you're not wasting his or her time.  And that's a very business-like thing to do.
