Thank you letter for phone interview
Should I send a thank you letter after having a phone interview? The interview was very laid back, more of a job description explanation, and seeing if I would be interested in a face to face interview actually. The interviewer-my potential new boss- did give me his phone number and contact information incase I had additional questions before he got back in touch with a specific time for a interview. A friend said it was not necessary to send a thank you letter after phone interview-only after a face to face interview. What's appropriate? I'd send a very short, rather informal e-mail saying something to the effect of "It was really nice talking with you on XXXX about the XXXX position; thank you for your time. I'm very interested in this position, and look forward to an in-person interview. If you need any further information from me in the meantime, please call or e-mail me at (your phone number & e-mail address). And, if he didn't already give you an estimate of the timeframe for the hiring process, I'd add a short sentence asking how long he anticipates the process will take. A thank you is ALWAYS appropriate when somebody spends their time with you--whether by phone or in person. | |
