2 day interview. Couple of questions
Hi, I have an interview coming up next week in Washington DC. I will beflying from Phoenix Thursday morning, reach DC around 3pm. I will begoing straight to their office, attend an interview with the projectmanager. And then go out for dinner that evening with the projectmanager (and probably couple of other team members as well). And fridaymorning, interview with the HR manager. Leave DC friday afternoon. My questions: 1. What do I wear on thursday? I will be heading straight to theiroffice to attend an interview. Should I dress up in a suit and jacketwhen I leave home in Phoenix? 2. Is it ok to wear the same jacket (different pant, shirt, and tie)for the next day interview as well? Probably not? I guess I have to buyanother suit. 3. What luggage do I take with me? I have a couple of carry-on luggagesBut both of them don't have a suit compartment. Do I buy a suit bag orjust stuff my suit in? And is it ok to walk in to the interview roomwith a carry-on luggage? Or probably leave the luggage at the receptiondesk I guess? 4. I am a vegan, so no meat or cheese. Should I mention this before I get there or is this not a big deal? Thanks.
I had a similar situation recently and I went straight from the plane to the interview. What I did was wear my suit on the plane, but I took off my suit coat and gave it to the flight attendant and she hung it in first class while I was in coach :). I would just bring a different pair of pants, shirt and tie, if you have a black or neutral suit it would be easier to match up the suit coat with another pair of pants and then a different shirt and tie for the next day but the coat should be fine. Guys have it easier changing the tie makes it looks like a different outfit. Most hotels have irons if you need to iron out the pants you packed. Pack a carry on trust me and make sure you put all you liquids in a see through bag and give yourself time to get through security I was literally running to catch my plane. Then leave it with at the front desk I'm sure they will take it from you anyway. I wouldn't make a big deal about the food, I had to go out to eat and I'm extremely picky and we went to a Thai restaurant and I found something there without having to explain what I can and can not eat. Good luck it should be a lot of fun!!! Jen What I would do is wear something as comfortable as possible on the plane, but invest in a garment bag for your suit to give to the flight attendant to hang up. Then, after the plane lands, go into the men's room and change into your suit transferring your "plane clothes" into the garment bag. If you are able to, try to get a bag that has a seperator so that you can put your shirt and pants that you will be wearing the next day in it also. If you have to fold your shirt and pants for the next day neatly in your overnight bag, then as soon as you get to your hotel room, take them out and hang them up in the closet. If your room doesn't come with an iron, request one at the registration desk. The hotel, if they do not offer their guests an iron, may offer to press your clothes for you. They may also charge something for this service. To be on the safe side, you may want to think about bringing a lightweight iron with you. As for your question about where to leave your bag (s) when you get to the interview, since you won't have time to check in at the hotel before hand, leave them with the receptionist. If you have time to take a cab to the hotel to drop off your bags, do that. Contact the hotel before you leave Phoenix and let them know that you are going to be going to an interview and won't have time to check in so you would like to leave your bags with the desk (or bellhop if they have one). Many restaurants have dishes on their menu that are vegetarian and will be happy to prepare the meal as you like it.
