Waiting. . . . . .

So here is the story.  Interviewed for a property manager position with the current manager who is being promoted.  She called me a week later to set up a 2nd interview with her supervisor, who would be my supervisor.  I went in for the 2nd interview on a Friday.  She told me that the current manager really liked me and so did she.  The interview was basically her asking me questions about my answers to the questions in the first interview.  (They have an interview list of questions.)  Great interview, great chemistry.  I had 2 very good letters of recommendation.  Perfect candidate.  She tells me that they should be making a decision on Monday.  I wait, nothing.  I call the Regional manager on Wednesday.  She tells me that they have more resumes and she will be in town next week to conduct more interviews.  What the heck is up with that?  I am so upset about the whole thing, I call on Friday and talk to the current manager.  I ask if I am still in the running and what can I do to stay in the running.  She tells me they only interviewed 3 people and called 2 people back for a 2nd interview.  I was one of the 2 people called back.  She said the owner of the company felt they did not interview enough candidates.  She said she was going to email the Regional manager and let her know that I called and am very interested in the position.  She told me to call back Monday or Tuesday to check in with her.  I called on Tuesday and was told she was very busy.  I said I would call back about 4 pm.  I called at 4:30.  No answer at the property.  Called back at 4:45.  Still no answer.  I called on Wednesday and left a message with my phone number.  Haven't heard anything.  Now it is Thursday night.  I really want this job!  I don't want to keep calling and harassing the poor manager.  Any advice to help me get through this?  Should I call on Monday?

You are clearly not talking to the decision maker. The local people need to run things by the Regional Manager and that takes time.

In addition, hiring you (or anyone else) is probably not the only thing these people have to do so you need to sit tight until they get to you. I wouldn't stop interviewing elsewhere. Even if they don't see anyone else, you are still one of two acceptable candidates so you have an even chance of NOT getting this job.
