uh oh! Just my luck!
Someone please tell me how to handle this situation. You have two choices. You can either choose to go to both interviews...what can happen, after all? You go to the second interview, see what the job is all about (maybe it is somewhat close to your dream job interview) and then go to the dream job interview as well (I'm sure you'll find a way to get out of the first one, should you start immediately after the interview, in order to go and see the dreamed one). Or...you can choose to compare the jobs between them and see which suits you best from the very beginning....
Section of post does not conform with Monster TOU Absolutely go to both interviews. No one is likely to offer you the job on the spot, things just don't work like that these days. It may well take a couple interviews with both before either of them makes you an offer (assuming one or the other even does).
Good luck! Tess
Unless you got a job offer from the "dream" job, you don't have it yet, and may or may not even get it. So I suggest going to both interviews. And you can mention to the "dream" one that you are being considered elsewhere but would really like to work for them.
CareerDoc, when I read your post I cracked up because itreminded me of an interviewee at place I used to work. On the guys’ way out thedoor after his interview with the company president, he told him he was beingconsidered for another position but he really wanted to work for our company. He then said, if you decide to hire me and I'm already working there, I'll justquit and come here. If that wasn't bad enough... he mentioned he's done thatbefore at other companies. So, go to both interviews; why wouldn't you? A few days between interviews is not likely to result in you having to make a decision about your second-choice job. By the time you have that interview and they either call you back for a 2nd one and/or offer you a job, you will likely have had your interview with dream job and can see better the lay of the land. If by some remote chance, the first company moves so quickly that you end up with an offer in your hands before you go to the other interview, you just ask for a few days to respond. Don't stress--you don't even know whether or not you will get an offer from the first company, much less whether you will even want to consider that job once you interview for it. | |
