resume submitted online
I submitted a resume online for a job that I am perfect for 2 weeks ago. The company's website provides a status of resumes received ("under consideration", "position closed", etc). Considering the online status, is it too pushy to call or e-mail requesting status or a timeline of when they expect to begin interviewing? The position is no longer posted so I'm assuming they have enough qualified applicants.
If the position is no longer posted but the status does not indicate that the position is closed (as in job filled) then there shouldn't be any problem in contacting the appropriate person to state that you are still interested in the position and the company and are inquiring as to when the interviews may take place. This is called initiative and most employers are pleased to hear from applicants. It can very well be the difference between your resume being placed in the "well, maybe" or "not a chance in poopville" to "Hey, interested and not afraid to speak up".
