Position pulled from website....

So another interesting situation for me (they seem to be following me around these days), and I' d like to get some feedback.  So today I got an email asking for me to come in and interview next week for a position I applied for about six weeks ago.  So far so good.  However, when I go back to the employment listings on the company' s website to review the job description, I notice that the position has been pulled.  Now, every organization I' ve ever worked for leave the position posted until it' s filled and then they pull the listing, they do not pull it when they begin interviews.  So I' m starting to wonder if the job is filled already?  And if so why on earth would they be continue to interview?  Or perhaps my limited experience with other organization' s is just that limited?  And perhaps organizations pull postings after they' ve received plenty of applications?
I would say your exposure is limited. Don't look too deep in to this.

This has happen to me several times. One time I went on an interview by referral without knowing I was referred. The listing was already pulled so I don't even know what I was interviewing for.

My guess is the company has enough candidates to know they will make a decision. So what, go in there and shine. You might end up interviewing for a different opening or being referred to another company.

They probably pulled it because they had more than enough resumes to choose from for interviews.  Actually, think of it as a plus in your favor.  The less resmes they have to look at, the less they have to pick from, the less competition you will have

I would hope they were not going to bother to interview if the job was already filled.

In most companies, they set the posting to run a certain amount of time on certain venues.  So, the last one I posted, ran 10 days internally only.  It could have run up to 30, internal, external, on this job board, on that, etc.  When the timer runs out, the ad goes off whether they' ve hired or not.  If they don' t have a good applicant then the re-set it for more time or more places.

I haven' t been out of work much so I only apply to things that interest me, rather than applying for everything. So this is the first time I' ve seen an ad pulled on the organization' s website before the job is offered. I' m just glad to know that it' s not a typical.
