Typical Retail Management Questions
I'm looking for some typical questions an interviewer asks, specifically for a retail store manager position (not big box). I have a small collection already, but looking to add to it- want to have all bases covered. Thanks! The typical questions you will be asked are as follows: • How do you motivate employees to do as they are told? • Describe a time when you were under extreme pressure to resolve a customer complaint. How did you overcome obstacles to satisfy your customer? • What do you feel is the most important role of a store manager? • Tell what your definition of "Customer" is. Of course, depending upon who the retailer is, these questions can vary greatly. As I say in my book on how to handle a variety of interview questions, the KEY is to look at what a typical retail manager would do. They are in charge of the staff, responsible for profit and loss, and have to make a variety of decisions. So the interview will tend to focus on a number of different situations to see if you have the managerial abilities.
