How would you say this nicely

Ok, here's the deal.  I have had two interviews with the same company.  I was told I was one of the top candidates and to follow up at X date.  I followed up, then they told me that they were going on a business trip and to follow up at X date.  I followed up once again to be told that in one month they would probably have everything resolved and to follow up again.

I want to contact the company and find out if they are jerking me around or if they are ready to move forward.  This is a job I really want, so I don't want to burn any bridges, but I am starting to get frustrated.  So, the question is how do you say are you moving forward with the hiring process or should I forget about this in a way that is professional?

Thanks!

Keep looking around.  Only with a competing offer in hand will you give them a reason to step on it.  It needs to be an actual viable offer, not some vague reference to other opportunities.

You can assume they ARE moving forward with the process, but you cannot assume that the outcome of that process will be that you get the job.  This position may never materialize.  You should continue to look elsewhere and if this comes through in the meantime, great.  If not, you'll have something else.

Call the hiring manager and express your continued interest.  Ask if there's any additional info you can provide.  Don't be a pest, but don't let him forget you either.

If you find out later that they were jerking you around, that's the time to give out some a$$ whup'in's!  How big a boy is the IHR manager, anyway?

Thanks for your advice.  Yeah, I had that "am I being a pest" thought for a minute, but then I realized the only thing I'm doing is expressing interest and until they give me a straight up NO then I will keep on following up.  ha ha... a$$ whup'in's ....love it!
