Question Regarding Interview Attire

I am interviewing for my first job ever as a paralegal.

I do not own a suit. Is it okay for me to wear a navy blue blazer with charcoal grey slacks? (with maroon tie?)

How about a navy blue blazer with olive green slacks. (what color tie?)

I have khaki slacks, but that look just seems off to me. (with red tie?)

Any advice?

Wow...I must confess I' m not a big fan of the combination maroon-blue-gray or red-khaki....My suggestion is you should remain to a combination of two colors. Last but not least....mesmerism them with your verbal and nonverbal language and they will  have their eyes taken from your clothes. Be neat and do not exaggerate and you' ll be fine. Good luck!

Thanks so much for a great reply! If I stick with two colors and were going to wear a navy blazer and charcoal-gray pants, what color tie should I wear? I own no gray ties and I think that a blue tie would blend in with the blue blazer.

I usually do try to link the slacks and tie by a shared color within the design of the tie.

I' m new to all this and am quite nervous.

Assuming you go with the blue/charcoal and a white shirt, go with a blue tie.

You can always go to the Salvation Army store or Savers and pick up a gray tie on the cheap.

Really?! You guys are blowing my  mind here.

You really don' t think that a blue blazer with khaki pants and a red tie with navy stripes is a good outfit?

I need an image consultant.

I have to leave for an interview in about 30 minutes, so I' ll try your recommendations.

A paralegal is a conservative job in a conservative field.  You' re working with lawyers who will be wearing suits every day because they have to appear in court every day.  The best answer is a suit (there are many places you can get them inexpensively).  The second best answer is a conservative blazer, a conservative shirt, a conservative tie and conservative pants as monochromatic as possible.

If this is your field, you should invest in a suit.  You' re going to be wearing one a lot.
