Career Tips

Just came from an interview...advise....

Now during the interview i felt i did all the right things, gave solid answers, exuded confidence, etc....Overall i felt very good about myself coming out, and usually when i do, i get a second interview or the actual job.

But the interviewers were never taking notes the whole time...this really bothered me because the entire interview (where two separate supervisors interviewed me on two separate times consecutively)really took only 30 minutes. which is really short by my standards...

I felt I communicated that I was very interested in the job, but I am not so sure they received it well...Anyway, what do you think of what i just explained? Am I on the verge of getting hired or should I keep looking?

You' re thinking too hard.  Whether they took notes or didn' t makes no difference.  That' s their process, not your business.

Relax and let the process take its course, however, always keep looking until you have an offer in hand.

How about advice in regards to followup?

Here's the timeline so far...

In the interview(Thurs), they mentioned they would get back the following day...they didn't, I called the following Wed, she said they will get back to me again and no decisions have been made....

Its now Wed after....I called but no one picked up the phone, what do i do in this situation...I know you hear this alot, but the wait is killing me.  Its a job that I REALLY WANT!

You interviewed and gave it your best shot.  Hopefully you followed up with a simple thank you note.  Hopefully you preped your references that they might get a call.  You followed up more than a week ago they said when a decision would be made.  A week later and you still have not heard. If I got it right, I would call again.    Be braced for disappointment.  You might not have gotten the job.  But if it is really a company you want to work for, you might want to ask for a 5-10 minute debrief of what skills & knowledge you need to position yourself for future openings.  Be braced for disappointment again 'cause they might say no.  However, if they say yes, it might mean there is hope for you in the future.
