What do I thinkI had an hour telephone interview last Thursday with the Human Resources manager for an Office Assistant/Reception position with an established company. It was very positive, encouraging and upbeat. She said that she would contact me about coming in for a one on one personal interview. Today is now Tuesday and I have not received a phone call or e-mail. Do I "assume" they hired someone else, she is busy because it is the end of the month or ???? or just put it behind me and forget about it? Thanks for any and all replies. Hi, A lot of times these people are interviewing/hiring for many different jobs, so she just may be really busy. I would follow up with an e-mail expressing your interest in the job and requesting to know the status of the hiring process. It is harmless and lets her know you are still interested. Good luck and I hope you get the job! ps-if you are looking for the receptionist/office assistant type jobs, you might try going through a temp agency. A lot of the big companies place their temp-to-hire opportunities with temp agencies...you could get a really good job with a great company that way. Send her an email letting her know that you are still interested in coming to the site location for a one-one interview. It could just be that there are other people who she has conducted phone interviews that she is equally interested in and is trying to decide who to call in for a face to face. Another scenario is that she has to man (or woman as it were) the reception area because of the need for a person to fill that position. Fridays and Mondays are terrible to try to achieve any progress or other areas of your regular job because of the last day of the week and first day of the week phone congestion. Send her an email, or even give her a call Wednesday morning if you haven't heard anything by normal close of business today. Even at that it may be slightly early to start worrying. | |
