Background ChecksHow long do background checks take? I was supposedly given an offer on Wednesday, took a drug test and am I currently waiting about the background check results. I can' t get the job until I am cleared. Generally, background checks takes about 3 working days. Drug tests about one day. Depending upon what they are looking for I would allow at least 3-5 working days for the background check to clear. At least 3-5 days, but more depending on what kind of background check, if they' re able to get a hold of everyone right away, etc. etc. Yes, it depends on the job you are seeking for and the importance of your background. Background checks range from basic, credit checks to full-blown character profiles. They reveal an individual' s financial habits and details of any criminal records or possible aliases, being one way of keeping undesirable characters out of the workplace and ultimately, avoiding lawsuits and unnecessary expense. I went through the process in December and my background check took about a week.
It depends on where you lived and worked. The norm is 3 to 5 days. However, it you ever lived or worked in the state of New Hampshire, it can take up to three weeks. I know because my company has hired people who lived and/or worked in New Hampshire. New Hampshire has nothing on line, and the background check is completely manual - they need to go to the courthouses and pull records, etc. | |
