Some interviewers DONT lie...

So a couple of days ago I started a post called WHY DO INTERVIEWERS LIE?

Well...

The one interview in particular that I had mentioned where she said she really like me, etc. and would have "Susan" call me the next day which was supposed to be 3/21 and I never got the call, blah blah blah... Then I called her on that Friday and was only able to leave voice mail.  I never got a call back on that day either.  Then all of a sudden on Monday morning at 8 a.m. she called me.  Apparently they were sending my emails and I wasn' t getting them.  Stupid YAHOO!  So I went for the interview w/ the CEO this past Monday.  I was nervous but made it through.  The following morning she emailed and said I need your references, did that and we' ve been kind going around with that since Tuesday morning.

So this evening, my phone rang at 5:44 pm CDT.  I got the J-O-B!!!!

I want to apologize for my lack of faith in the hiring/interviewing process.  With this new job I' ve increased my yearly income by 25% and have now gained 2500 company shares worth (currently) $76.04/share.  Medical/Dental/Vision. etc. is all cheaper by $150/month too.

I' m totally stocked!!!

Oh lol...I hope what I posted in the other thread is incorrect then.

Congrats on getting the job and good luck.

way cool. good luck. The moral of the story --Cat, I spelled it rite this time ; ) 80% interviewers don' t know their butts from a hole in the ground and you will meet many, many of these slocks. HOWEVER, treat them all like they are the other 20% (the companies you really want to work for) because sometimes, stuff happens to slow the process, emails bounce back, people get sick etc and one who appears to be a shlock offers you stock options and lower insurance costs as sugar coating on the job offer...

Moral part 2. For all the folks who were suggesting on another post that its okay to call out an interview for treating you like crap. Imagine what would have happened if loribrad had called up the employer and said you freaking liar. you said you would call in two days...man i have never seen such a mickey mouse operation blah... blah.... bla... and that #### susan....blah blah blah... You all know who I am talking about.

FANTASTIC!

I want to say to all out on the board that it' s only natural to take some things in the hiring process PERSONALLY - not calling back, an inept or cranky interviewer, long delays, mis-communications, BUT it is very rarely about you.

It' s usually just ineptitude or some sort of insurmountable barrier or delay that has NOTHING to do with you.

Again, Congratulations!

That' s a great perspective.  Thanks for posting.

Since I' m just starting my job search, I was a bit miffed that I hadn' t yet received anything back from any of the companies.  When new to the search, it can seem really personal but I' ll keep what you said in mind and keep my eye on the prize....a shiney new job.

Thanks guys!

I just read my OP and noticed at the very end I misspelled "stoked."  Good thing my resume was flawless. tongue

So it's interesting to know that once you accept an offer, then they all come rolling in afterwards.  When that woman called me on Thurs. evening I started the very next day....yeah, it was a Friday.  While I was there my cell rang 4 times.  1 from Mom, 1 from DH, and 2 from other employers making offers.

I have to say job hunting is a very humbling experience.  You go from elated from having so many employers interested in you to feeling completely desparate because you have two little girls who need food and diapers.  I can say that I feel very lucky to only be out of a job for 1 month, instead of several months like a lot of folks.

P.s. For those of you still looking be careful with staffing agencies and recruiters.  I met with 12, yes 12, in the last month and NONE of them were legit.  Got this new job straight off craigslist, straight from the employer...no funny business.

Congratulations!

You were only out of work for a month? Unbelievable. You have a tendency to be impatient. Most people these days are out of work for much longer than that and they have the motivation and zeal to look for work as hard as you did. But who ever said that life is fair? If you' re in this situation again, be a little more realistic!

Interviewers never deliberately lie. Some of them get overly optimistic about a candidate and then give her false hopes which do not pan out. They speak without thinking and then because the final decision is not up to them, they withdraw and end contact with the applicant. They should do the right and decent thing and contact her as soon as possible to give her the bad news. At least - she knows and feels somewhat better than someone who is left hanging and wondering.

Some interviewers and hiring managers hate to deliver bad news so they think if they just quit communicating with rejected candidates who have been interviewed, the problem will just disappear and the candidates will figure it out for themselves and leave them alone.
