2nd Job OfferI accepted a job offer and am to begin training on Monday, 04/07. Tonight I found out it is possible I will be made an offer for a job to which had previously applied and interviewed. A job I really want. Interesting work, good company, great location, .I' m sure most of you know it can take quite awhile for the process of hiring to be completed, and, after having been unemployed long enough for my savings to dwindle down, I simply had to take a job. It is comparable to the first job - also a good company, etc. Putting aside the "what ifs" about if I am definitely going to be offered the position I want, any advice as to how to handle this situation? I' m sure it' s not the first time it' s happened. I don' t want to waste anyone' s time - training people can be costly, but I also know the process of narrowing down 2 candidates to the candidate won' t exactly be rushed either. I guess the bottom-line is, I' m hesitant to call the first job and tell them to make up their minds, for Pete' s sake and let me know so I can let the company I' m to begin training for that I have another offer that I want to accept! This job hunting experience has been absolutely dreadful and I can not believe the stress, humiliation, and exhaustion I feel, and so with all due respect, I will do what is right for me in the end. Assuming the job I want will be offered, how would any of you in management want this to be handled by the employee? Also, I' m 47 and neither job is even a mid-management job, so it' s not like either company will suffer greatly for not having me. (I think they will, but that does not matter.) Then, just some words from my own experience. As far as I now, you don' t legally become the employer of a company (I mean with all papers) until you have 30 days spent inside. I' m not talking about a probation period. So you might as well go and take the training session(s) and then, if offered the better job, leave. You said it yourself that in the end your best is the best. Thank you for that information - I had not even thought about that. I will visit the link. Thanks so much for the info. | |
