Asked for my References..

Hi,

I had a very good second interview with a boutique pr firm 3 weeks ago. The principal's assistant emailed me a week and a half later and asked for my references. I supplied them the next day and even checked in with the assistant to make sure she had received them and passed them along.

The assistant responded to me (last Wednesday) in a very friendly way and thanked me for sending them so quickly and assured me that they have been passed along. But... I checked in with my references and they have not been called yet. What should I do? Give up hope or check in with the assistant tomorrow? OR should I check in with the principal herself? What is the proper phrase to use? Should I e-mail or call? I really just want to know where they stand. If they have not called my references yet have they forgotten about me, did they find someone else or are they just busy??

Any solid advice will help! Thanks!!

If you gave them your references a week ago, I think you can call (not email) the principal (not the assistant) and ask whether he needs anything else from you to make a decision.
