Follow up to phone interviewI attended a phone interview Monday last week. The interview went very well (the manager said so). I was hoping to hear from him to schedule a personal interview. But I have not heard back from him yet. What do I do? Do I just wait for the hiring manager to call me?Should I call or email him? I don' t want to be a bother. I sent a thank you email the same day of the interview, and I called him last Thursday to check the status and left a message. Any suggestions?
Sure! hasn' t anyone ever told you that you are not bothering the person by following up, you are simply showing that you are interested in the job!! DO NOT WAIT FOR THE HR TO CALL YOU!!!! "Section of post does not conform with Monster TOU." Just because the guy said the interview went well, does not mean you' ll progress to the next step. 20 other people may have also done well. Regardless, if it has been a full week, call (on the phone) to the HR contact and just ask the status. Contrary to what others have written, you CAN make a pest of yourself. Generally, however, a once a week phone call is not a pest, unless they tell you that they' ll get back to you in 2 weeks, then in that case, you wait two weeks... I am in the same situation. It will be two weeks since the phone interview tomorrow. I called at one week and left a message, i called this week again but i didn' t leave a message. I plan to call a couple more times to try and get a hold of her. I have not gotten a letter in the mail either. It is frustrating checking your phone for missed calls! I don' t want to be a pest but, i really want the job. I guess i will leave another message and wait. I talked to the hiring manager last week. He said they haven' t finished interviewing all the candidates, but that I am near the top of the list. That was my third time following up with the hiring manager since my interview. And I mentioned that I will check back with him next week. I want to follow up with him this week, but I am not sure what to say. I am running out of stuff to mention - how much interested I am in this job, about my qualifications, how my skills match the position requirements, about my qualifications, ... and all that stuff. Any creative suggestions on what to say when I follow up with him this week? Or just stick to the same stuff? I don' t have to worry about this if I can get him on the phone, but if I have to leave a message I would like to have some script in front of me. I assume that when you said you would follow up "next week" it means this week. If so, call him and tell him that you are interested in the position and would like to know when you could come in for a face-to-face interview. | |
