how to answer an interview question

After working for an extremely difficult boss for 4 years (she has quite the reputation; she had 4 people in my position in less than 2 years before I was 'able' to work for her) I decided I couldn't take the stress of being bullied and yelled at needlessly and I gave 4 weeks notice leaving on good terms. I am currently interviewing for new jobs.

My question is this: what is the appropriate answer for "why did you leave your last job?"

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You don' t have to address it. NEVER and I mean never say anything bad about a former employer or company. Always bow out gracefully. The one thing I' m learning about the job hunt and interviews is THE truth isn' t always a good thing. As for what to say, maybe someone else could give you better advice on that.

Good luck with everything! I' m right there with ya trying to figure out the system.

I' ll ditto what the above poster said. NEVER EVER mention about not getting along with former coworkers, especially superiors. Because from their eyes, it doesn' t matter that the boss was difficult, or that there were lots of turnover in your position. All that they see is that you don' t get along with people. I' d say something about looking for a greater challenge, better utilizing your skills, etc. Also too...if they ask about "Tell me a time when a supervisor did something that you didn' t like", don' t even mention it. I was on an interview just a few days ago and was asked that question, and said something like "Well, I' ve always thought of supervisors as people to learn from. I mean, you' re naturally going to have people who have different personalities and different ways of doing things. But, I' ve always had great relationships with supervisors, and (blah blah blah" Sure..the answer was a bit bs, but the last thing they want is someone who even has the possibility of not getting along with people.
